This has to do with Android 2.3.x, although it may also be correlated with Samsung devices. My guess is that it also has to do with our memory management regarding storing the Page object (cf. Bug 66732)
Based on https://ticket.wikimedia.org/otrs/index.pl?Action=AgentTicketZoom;TicketID=7725182 it looks like someone is trying to fix this without updating the bug.
That would be me... The problem is that I have no idea what the fix for this bug should be, so I sent a straw-grasping build of the app (that contains a potential, but improbable, fix) to certain respondents on OTRS. Namely, it's this patch that I've sent out: https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/151779 ...but there's no evidence so far that it does anything to fix the issue (I haven't received any responses to the messages I've sent).
