Currently, we're using the default vhost on stat1001.wikimedia.org for various public datasets. We should migrate away from the default vhost to a proper, separate vhost for those datasets. This vhost can again be served from stat1001.wikimedia.org Private discussion [1] came forward with the suggestion of using "datasets" as name for this vhost. One possible way to do the migration might be: * Bringing the new domain up and make it serve the same content as stat1001's default vhost. * Announcing the move on the analytics mailing list. * Waiting 4 weeks During this time, both domains are functional. People can use this grace period to migrate their services. * Turning off stat1001's default vhost. [1] Emails between ottomata, dtaraborelli, msyed, jared, Scott Lee, and qchris around 2013-07-13.

Thanks! However, it seems urls like https://stat1001.wikimedia.org/limn-public-data/mobile/datafiles/alltime-numbers.csv are broken now, but are getting used by others (e.g.: The “[1]” link on https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Mobile_web_upload_deletion_stats.png ). Not sure though ... did they work before? Also, shouldn't we bring the change forward to the community?
(In reply to christian from comment #3) > https://stat1001.wikimedia.org/limn-public-data/mobile/datafiles/alltime- > numbers.csv > [...] > Not sure though ... did they work before? ottomata in IRC [1] doubted that https urls worked before. So they probably didn't work before either. [1] See http://bots.wmflabs.org/~wm-bot/logs/%23wikimedia-analytics/20140805.txt starting at [16:46:47]
