Description John Mark Vandenberg 2014-07-24 23:56:24 UTC
Either we need a component for each script in compat & core, or a component 'Other scripts'.

I slightly prefer the latter option.

If we do the former, here is a complete list of scripts in core

http://git.wikimedia.org/tree/pywikibot%2Fcore.git/master/scripts

The only overlap in names between pywikibot/ and scripts/ are:
login.py
version.py

IMO the script and the library file for login and version are tightly coupled and we do not need two components for those. IMO both of those sit nicely under 'General'.

I see a similar request (bug 68514) resulted from a mailing list discussion on pywikipedia-l, but that appears to be a very small subset.

Has this been discussed with the other maintainers? +1 welcome.

Has bug 68514 superseded this?
if not, has this been discussed with the other maintainers? +1 welcome.

For general info what's needed: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Bug_management/Project_Maintainers#To_add_a_project_or_component

Currently not actionable.

+1 on a component named 'Other scripts' to separate script bugs from framework bugs.

Comment 7 Andre Klapper 2014-09-01 12:38:02 UTC
I've created a component "Other scripts" with the description "For separate issues with scripts that are not problems in the Pywikibit framework itself".
Not sure if there are already bug reports that you'd like to move there?
Is anything else wanted in this bug report?
Comment 8 Ricordisamoa 2014-09-01 23:33:03 UTC
Please change "Pywikibit" to "Pywikibot" in the description of the component.
Otherwise, I think this bug can be marked as FIXED.
Comment 9 Andre Klapper 2014-09-01 23:37:38 UTC
Whoops, sorry for that. Fixed now.
