Description Mdann52 2014-08-26 09:32:10 UTC
In the current version of the app, there is no easy way to switch which language site you are viewing - you need to go through the options menu, select a different site and search for the article again. There appears to be no easy "in other langages" option.

Please give reasons why you want such a functionality.
Comment 2 Mdann52 2014-08-26 10:26:00 UTC
I've recieved a few emails through OTRS from reader asking for the functionality to be added. Personally, it interests me little, but as there seems to be a demand from the end user, it is probably worth considering.

There are also some reviews in the Dutch App Store from people who really miss this feature.

I'll be frank, this bug reads to me as "I don't want to have to go to my settings to change my settings". I'm not really sure how to address that. We can't have every option be easily accessible at all times because that'd fill every single screen in the app with so many buttons that it'd be disorienting.

This was a feature (AKAIR) on the old app that is in demand for the new one as well. Wikipedia had the sidebar - why can't we have an option that allows a "other languages" tab to show up when you open the page menu?

Can you clarify what you mean by "page menu"?

But as a general point of principle, adding in options for users to endlessly customise the app experience is also not being considered at present. The last thing we want is for the app to end up with a preferences system as incomprehensible as the one on desktop.

Ok, noted. Closing this for now, however language switching is a possible feature that may be useful, however other things clearly need fixing more urgently.
