Created attachment 16281 [details]
gadolinium_number_of_processes.png

since about 32nd week, the number of processes is constantly increasing
(see attachment gadolinium_number_of_processes.png ).

Of those currently ~6500 processes, around 6250 are fundraising log
rotation scripts.

Do we know what is going on there?

Adding Katie Horn

Hi Christian -- it turns out jgreen is on vacation until the 2d. Do you think Gadlolinium will survive until then?

Katie says it would be bad if we stopped fundraising log-rotations on that host.

Ok, if Jeff is on vacation, I'll look into it...

I don't know what would cause this to start happening a couple of weeks ago. But, from what I can tell, these processes should not be running on gadolinium at all. The fundraising udp2log filters and rotate script run on erbium.

There was a time in the past when these ran on gadolinium. Perhaps they were not cleaned up properly when they were moved to erbium (either by Jeff or myself! or both!). This looks like it is all working just fine on erbium...so I am going to stop these jobs and the udp2log instance on gadolinium altogether.

Closing the bug, as the processes are now gone.
Thanks ottomata!
