I think its very difficult for newbies to edit fielda in unknown templates. In the attached image, I add template Commonscat (well, even to know that such template exists is a difficult task for a newbie) and than there is a dialog, which calles for field name.

I think it would be better, to detect how many fields there are and add them automatically and just ask for their parameters to their editor.
