Description Amir E. Aharoni 2014-09-06 08:00:50 UTC
In the Hebrew Wikipedia a page for testing Flow was set up on the talk page of the Flow project description in the Wikipedia namespace. To clarify:

* project description:
https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%95%D7%99%D7%A7%D7%99%D7%A4%D7%93%D7%99%D7%94:%D7%96%D7%A8%D7%99%D7%9E%D7%94
* talk page / Flow test page:
https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%A9%D7%99%D7%97%D7%AA_%D7%95%D7%99%D7%A7%D7%99%D7%A4%D7%93%D7%99%D7%94:%D7%96%D7%A8%D7%99%D7%9E%D7%94

There is also an article in the main namespace that has the same title as the Flow project: זרימה. Here's the URL:
* https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%96%D7%A8%D7%99%D7%9E%D7%94

Now, the bug: If a user has the main namespace article in her watchlist, but not the page in the Wikipedia namespace, she will still still Echo messages every time there is an activity on the Flow board.

This definitely should not happen.

Notes from trying to reproduce this bug...

We've got these 2 test pages, which I think match the situation at Hewiki:
http://ee-flow.wmflabs.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Namespace_test
http://ee-flow.wmflabs.org/wiki/Talk:Namespace_test

I have the main namespace page watchlisted, but not the Flow page in the Wikipedia: namespace.
If someone makes a post at the Flow page, I'm *not* currently getting a Echo message for it.

I also tried it at a mainspace (wikitext) vs usertalk (flow) combination, and could not reproduce the bug there either.

I am trying to investigate this bug and I have a couple questions

1. Is the user actually watching the Flow page? This could be checked by simply looking at the big star to the right of the page title, if it's highlighted, that means the page is watched

2. Has the user ever replied to any topic on the flow page. If a user has replied to any post inside a topic, the user is automatically subscribed to all activities on that topic. If this happens, the star to the right of the topic title is highlighted

Shouldn't happen and we can't reproduce per comment #1, so closing unless someone provides more details.
Comment 4 Amir E. Aharoni 2014-09-17 19:09:43 UTC
OK, acknowledged.

I'm pretty sure that it was broken, but I cannot reproduce now.
