Description Amir E. Aharoni 2014-09-06 09:24:45 UTC
When replying to a Flow message, the software automatically inserts a linked username and a colon, like this:
[[User:Amire80|Amire80]]:

The colon may be confusing and wrongly used. Several reasons for that:
* Some languages, most notably French, insert a space before the colon.
* Some languages don't use the colon character at all.
* In many languages, including English itself, a name followed by a colon indicates direct speech by the person whose name appears before the colon. This is used in plays, dialog transcriptions, and so on. This is the opposite of the intention here.

In some languages, including English, a better option would be to use a comma.

The simplest solution is probably to create an optional message and let every language customize it accordingly.

The automated reply-to username has been removed, so I'll close this bug. Thanks for the good explanation though.

Sidenote: There are developer mutterings about changing the way Mentions works, and if that goes forward I'll make sure this aspect gets noted.
