Description Vogone 2014-09-15 16:46:48 UTC
When trying to filter https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Log/gblrename by "Target (title or user): Special:CentralAuth/<username before global rename>", there is no result. This makes the whole log rather useless, as it is not possible to keep track of a particular user name, especially since these global renames affect also other wikis.

I'll repeat my comment from another bug which was marked as a duplicate. (Imho it's important that the search option in this global log will be the same as it was in the local rename log (namely, old username with the User: prefix)

"While the global rename tool has been developed, it's not possible to search in the global rename log (https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Log/gblrename) on the old or new account name, with or without the User: prefix. It's only possible to search on the name of the global renamer/steward, but as the log will only grow more and more it's impossible to do that when you don't know the name of the person who acted.

It was possible for the "old" rename tool to search on the old account name. See for example https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ALog&type=renameuser&page=User%3A123chess456 (with the User: prefix). While the same is not working for the global rename tool: https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ALog&type=gblrename&page=User%3AMinimaud"

Deployed, and ran the back-populate script on metawiki.
