I have a daily cronjob that pipes a status report to /usr/sbin/exim -v -odf -i. This evening, I noticed that the job was submitted (job 4176654) but the email didn't go through. Seeing that it was scheduled on tools-exec-14, I did a little testing and found these results on -14 and -15: tools.anomiebot@tools-exec-14:~$ (echo "Subject: Test 14"; echo ""; echo "Testing email") | /usr/sbin/exim -v -odf -i redacted@email.address LOG: MAIN <= tools.anomiebot@tools.wmflabs.org U=tools.anomiebot P=local S=406 LOG: PANIC DIE Cannot open main log file "/var/log/exim4/mainlog": Permission denied: euid=107 egid=110 2014-09-21 03:23:40 1XVXkS-0001vl-2V <= tools.anomiebot@tools.wmflabs.org U=tools.anomiebot P=local S=406 2014-09-21 03:23:40 1XVXkS-0001vl-2V Cannot open main log file "/var/log/exim4/mainlog": Permission denied: euid=107 egid=110 exim: could not open panic log - aborting: see message(s) above These are the same symptoms as in bug 67912, which may mean that whatever fix was necessary then wasn't puppetized. Please do so! Thanks.
This is still going on, and I discovered tools-exec-07 has the same issue. The remaining tools-exec servers (-01 to -06 and -08 to -13) are not currently affected.
