Wikimedia Norway uses the password-protected noboards page for upload of accounting documents, employment contracts, and other restricted materials. Only Board members have Access to the site. https://noboard-chapters.wikimedia.org/wiki/Forside However, it appers that the ability to upload files to the noboards site has been turned off. This is extremely unconvenient, as we use noboards as a safe Storage for employee contracts, salary information and documents. We cannot upload that to Commons.... So, could somebode PLEASE turn on again the upload files-function to noboards? It is really vital to us that we get this function back. This was the Message I got on noboards, including instructions: "Uploading files to this wiki is not enabled. Please upload to Wikimedia Commons. To be able to use this special page to upload to this wiki, an administrator needs to add one or more license options to the page MediaWiki:Licenses. Use the following format: * Template name|Label. Have you tried that? If yes, what was the outcome (or the problem when trying to add a license option)?
Just create https://noboard-chapters.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Licenses and local uploading would be enabled. This happened due to a change on June this year. I364f48f387d5987ba2b93e90ea6b2a3c5de1461d required MediaWiki:Licenses to be present to enable local uploads on all Wikimedia wikis.
Hi, I have tried to create that page, and also tried to add some text to it (and not insert any text). Nothing Works. The Message I get when I try to uploas files, is still: "Uploading files to this wiki is not enabled. Please upload to Wikimedia Commons. Use any text to enable uploading without license options." I am sorry, but my IT skills aren't even near of understanding how to enable upload. Our Chapter needs a safe storage place for accounting documents, and noboards is a good place for it. Do you mean that you can't create Mediawiki:Licenses page? You need to have an administrator account to create/edit that page.
I crated the page, I believe (at least it seems that way). Probably I am then an admin of that page. The page is here: https://noboard-chapters.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Licenses But it does not work - the "Upload file" button still yields the same error Message that Upload has been disabled. As noboard-chapters is a private wiki and as I do not have access there, I can't tell whether the page has been created. Can you do the following? 1. While logged-in, go to https://noboard-chapters.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Licenses?action=edit 2. Type in something like "Placeholder text to enable uploading after [[gerrit:136520]]." and click Save page button. If you do not have the permission to edit that page, you will not see a Save page button. 3. If you were able to save the page, then go to https://noboard-chapters.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Upload and see whether you can upload the file. If you were not able to complete step 2, then you probably do not have an administrator account. Ask someone with administrator access to create that page. If you were able to save the page but could not complete step 3, then something is probably wrong. If so, please state the exact error message which you are receiving.
I have created the system message necessary to enable upload. Big caveat for future reference, the upload check actually verifies that the message exists *in the default language for the wiki specifically*. In this case, MediaWiki:Licenses/nb and *only* that language is the one that needed a message.
