Description Cyberpower678 2014-09-28 13:54:12 UTC
For some reason, about 80% of the time, the moderator interface of a mailing list times out on me when I try to log in. However the administrator interface seems to work just fine. What could be causing this? I had another user confirm that I wasn't the only having this issue. John F. Lewis can confirm this too.

I set this to high, as being able to check the queue is an important task for ACC.

This is a known issue with Chrome, and sometimes occurs with Safari. Please can you try to use Firefox to see if the problem still occurs with?

The problem isn't occurring with either of them at the moment. And I've had this happen in Firefox too.

For the record I can not reproduce this on Chrome for any lists I have access to.

Hmm. Never had this problem with Firefox on Linux so far...

Yeah, I've had this quite a few times over the year but always on chrome, so only use FF for mailman.

With all due respect. That's unacceptable. Users that prefer a certain browser over another is now being forced to use the other browser. If I had that attitude, my user analysis tool would still have browser specific bugs.

I agree, but I do not know what to do about it, there have been bugs made before and it very much appears to be an upstream issue on the 3rd party software we use but that no one is able to reliably figure out how to reproduce or deal with. For example I have, only had the issue on Chrome but others have at times reported it only on Firefox or on many browsers.

Use Safari. It does constantly seem to happen using that browser.

https://mail.python.org/pipermail/mailman-users/2014-February/076067.html is the upstream thread. Not much that Wikimedia can do here.

That doesn't appear to be related, it's about iOS (Iphone/Ipad) Safari deleting cookies if you close the app etc.
