Right now we rely on the API moaning about this, which means you have to wait for the whole page to be serialised, returned and saved before we prompt the user to do something that takes up some cycles, and so avoids them wasting time.

You mean "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary"? I'm pretty sure we're handling that locally...
