Description Tar Lócesilion 2014-10-08 11:09:05 UTC
'When users add the template to a page, this value will be added automatically.' ([[mw:Help:TemplateData#Auto value]]).

Cool. But when users add a template with {{CURRENTYEAR}}-{{CURRENTMONTH}} filled in, they'll see {{CURRENTYEAR}}-{{CURRENTMONTH}} in the dialog, not e.g. 2014-10. (Btw, their exp: 'wtf is this? is this supposed to be here?'). The diff will also be |parameter={{CURRENTYEAR}}-{{CURRENTMONTH}}. As a result, 'autovalue' doesn't work as it is expected, unless it is us who have to specify 'subst:' somewhere in TemplateData code (?).
Comment 1 James Forrester 2014-10-22 23:18:49 UTC
Hmm. Interesting idea. I'm not sure going through the wikitext and auto-putting in "subst:" where things look like templates is sanely doable…
Comment 2 Jackmcbarn 2014-10-22 23:49:02 UTC
It's not. If users want it, they should put the subst: themselves.
Comment 3 James Forrester 2014-10-23 00:19:08 UTC
In that case, I'll update the documentation and mark this as WONTFIX.
