Description Richard Decal 2014-10-14 21:22:06 UTC
Intention:
I am trying to install Scribuntu in order to add the Citation module to my website.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. running php -i | grep 'PCRE' shows that my hosting company is running version 8.32
2. I downloaded the correct version of Scribuntu (for Mediawiki v1.23), extracted it in the extensions folder. I added the require_once lines to the LocalSettings file.

Actual Results:
Every page of my wiki turns into a blank white page

Reproducible: Always

You're going to have to be a lot more detailed than that. What sort of log entries are you seeing, and so on. Did you look at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Scribunto#Troubleshooting? Did you try looking at the many threads on https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension_talk:Scribunto to see if your problem is the same as someone else's?

Thanks for the response, Brad. As I said, all I see is a blank white screen, and under Troubleshooting all it says is to make sure you are using the right version (I am). I don't see anyone else reporting those symptoms on the talk page.

I didn't know Mediawiki had logs. I found the Manual:How_to_debug page but I am not sure which parts I should follow.

Ok, here's the error (I re-checked the Troubleshooting guide and Extension talk, and I searched the error on Google, but no dice).

Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required '/home2/richati3/public_html/RepoKnowledge/extensions/Scribunto/common/Hooks.php' (include_path='.:/usr/php/54/usr/lib64:/usr/php/54/usr/share/pear') in /home2/richati3/public_html/RepoKnowledge/includes/AutoLoader.php on line 1253
Comment 4 Brad Jorsch 2014-10-16 23:23:04 UTC
That error message indicates that you've installed things wrong somehow, so the files aren't in the place they're expected to be. Without access to your server, there's not much more I can tell you.

MediaWiki bugzilla is not the correct place to debug this issue, so I'm going to close the bug.
Comment 5 Richard Decal 2014-10-16 23:51:47 UTC
Ok. Where would be the appropriate place to seek help?
Comment 6 Brad Jorsch 2014-10-16 23:55:28 UTC
IRC, or people have been using https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension_talk:Scribunto for that purpose.
