Description Redrose64 2014-10-17 15:01:34 UTC
On English Wikipedia, go to [[Special:LinkSearch]]. Enter "en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Redrose64", click "Search". It comes back with "There are no results for this report.", even though the link (formatted as [1]) exists at [2] and [3]. I want to find all the places that it's linked in that manner, so that I can fix them all to a proper internal wikilink.

External links to the same server not registered as external link or internal link and therefor not searchable by LinkSearch or WhatLinksHere.

See also [[mw:Manual:$wgRegisterInternalExternals]].
Comment 2 Redrose64 2014-10-17 17:09:54 UTC
Why was this marked "resolved"? It isn't. If I go to [[Special:LinkSearch]], enter a shorter search term, i.e. "en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment", and click "Search", it comes back with 23 hits [4]; none of these are what I am looking for, and all of them begin http:

It was marked RESOLVED INVALID = Not a real bug (Since the behavior was intentional)

Those are all in error. They will be removed next time someone null edits the relavent page (I null edited 2 of them, now its down to 21).

Currently Wikipedia does not consider links to itself to be external links (Personally that doesn't make sense to me, but that's the way it is). Perhaps instead you should file a bug to request $wgRegisterInternalExternals be turned on (Assuming there is community consensus)
Comment 4 Andre Klapper 2014-10-17 18:41:17 UTC
This behavior is currently intentionally not supported, hence closing as RESOLVED again (which does not mean FIXED). See comment 3: Feel free to create a separate ticket asking for switching on $wgRegisterInternalExternals.
