Description teo8976 2014-10-30 19:42:08 UTC
I reported a bug here at bugzilla.

Then I saw this warning:
Phabricator will replace Bugzilla soon. For a smooth migration of your data, create your account in Phabricator and add your Bugzilla email address now!

So I clicked on "Create your account", which leads to:
https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/auth/start/

This shows a rather funny form which looks like it is a unique form for both logging in and registering.
It says "Login or register", it has a username and password fields, and a "Login or Register" button.

That's rather unusual, but the only way I can interpret it is that in order to register you should simply enter a new username and new password into the username field, and that will let you register, right? Otherwise, it is lacking a Register link (and also "login or register" wouldn't make much sense)

However, I tried to enter a username and a password and it says they are incorrect. Looks like it's just a login form.

I also tried entering a username only, an email, or leaving both fields blank. None of these work.
Either there is no way to register, or it is so unusual and counterintuitive that I can't figure it out.

There is also a link in the banner on top of Bugzilla which links to https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Phabricator/Help#Creating_your_account - did you follow those instructions by using the "Login or Register - MediaWiki" button?

Best place to ask is https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Phabricator/Help

And yes, the form could be more simple, we know. Sorry. :-(

Oh, that comes after the link to
https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/auth/start/
and reads "add your Bugzilla email address", so it totally looked like it would only make sense to follow that link after using the first one to create an account at Phabricator. That's why I didn't look at it, since I got stuck at the first stage.

Thta's all unnecessarily confusing.
At the second link, I see it starts with:
"Join Wikimedia Phabricator using your Wikimedia Single User Login (the account you use for mediawiki.org, Wikipedia...). If you don't have one, get one. [link]"

This sentence and link should definitely be included at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/auth/start/

https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T862 may be relevant here. :-)

Yeah, good point. Thanks for reporting this again!

I've changed the top banner on Bugzilla to state:

''Phabricator will replace Bugzilla soon''. For a smooth migration of your data, ''create your account'' and add your Bugzilla email address in Phabricator by ''following these instructions'' now!

Note You need to log in before you can comment on or make changes to this bug.
