Description Theresa Hume 2014-11-06 07:49:53 UTC
I would like to create an Afrikaans mailing list for all Afrikaans speaking contributors in South Africa. We currently have two mailing lists – one for the Board of Trustees and one for the general mailing list, but would like to add one specifically for the Afrikaans community.

Wouldn't this overlap with African-Wikimedians list?

The African Wikimedia list is for the whole of Africa as WMZA currently acts as a conduit between the Foundation and those trying to start user groups in their countries.

This list will be specifically for the Afrikaans speaking contributors in South Africa who contribute to the Afrikaans WP. The mails will be written in Afrikaans. We want to engage specifically with the Afrikaans community as one of our focus areas for next year.

If you want to split away from the main list encasing all of Africa, how would 'wikipedia-af' sound? (Also verify I have the right language code for it :))

We don't really give out wikimedia* lists apart from recognised chapters or projects that have the foundation's backing.

If you could assist with creating the list with the name you suggest that will be great.

Can you please advise on the status of this? Many thanks

It might also be useful to post the email addresses of the initial listadmins here.
