Just as the "Subcategories" and "Media in category" headings are suppressed on Category: namespace pages when there are none, so should "Pages in category" headings be suppressed. This is useful on Commons and for wikis with deep category trees. thanks!
I know this is a duplicate of something, although I can't find it . . . anyway, the interesting question is, what happens if there are no subcategories *or* pages *or* media in a category? Should it display like a normal page? Would that confuse people?
In that case it could display a text like: "This category is empty."
Under what heading?
Just under the page-title, because in this case there are no headings. A wiki-specific message, maybe in bold or in a bigger font-size, which clearly states that there isn't any content in the category.
Sounds sane to me.
So, could this be enabled, please?
I don't see there being much of a problem if a category is empty and there are no headings as a result. Yes, it'll look a little odd to start with but that's just because it's different from how they are now. Once people get used to it, it'll be fine. (PS if you want a bug fixed, then voting for it helps)
Fixed with r20039 without a separate message. Now an empty category is an empty category is an empty category...
