Here are additional requirements for the Deletion Wizard in the Curation Toolbar in Page Curation. 1. Section Descriptions: Each section will have a one-line description at the top, such as: • Speedy deletion: Mark this page for speedy deletion if it fits one of the criteria below. • Proposed deletion: Mark this page for proposed deletion if it clearly violates Wikipedia’s standards. • Articles for Deletion: Mark this page if you think a deletion would be controversial, requiring a discussion. These prompts would be in small gray text, at the top of each section. 2. Prompts for Text Boxes We propose adding prompts above the text boxes in the 'Proposed Deletion' and 'Articles for Deletion' sections, so people know what they are supposed to write in these boxes. These prompts would be in small gray text, ideally separated from the one-line descriptions above by a one-line space, so they are not all jumbled together. For example: * Proposed deletion: 'Add a note: Why do you propose this page be deleted?' * Articles for deletion: 'Add a note: Why do you think a discussion is needed to delete this page?' 3. Select Text Boxes: Let's automatically put the focus on the text boxes to select them when you click on Proposed Deletion and Articles for Deletion, so you can start typing right away. 4. Articles for Deletion One-click: Since there is only one option for that section, we propose a one-click solution that automatically selects the radio button and opens the details panel, as soon as you click on 'Articles for Deletion'.
Sounds like necessary enhancements to me. This will help increase the accuracy and quality of use of the deletion wizard.
Hi guys, the Deletion Wizard looks really great, thanks for all these improvements! However, one important recommendation from my email notes fell through the cracks: * Mark for deletion button The green button for the Deletion wizard should say 'Mark for deletion' (instead of 'Add selected tags'), so it is consistent with its title and prompts, and so that people are clear about the effect of this action. To confirm that selected tags will be added, we can simply add a gray text label to the right of the button, saying something like: 'Add 2 selected tags'. As in: '[ Mark for deletion ] Add 2 selected tags'
Here's one more tweak we discussed, but may have forgotten to implement. Show color highlight for Trash icon After a reviewer clicks the “Mark as Deleted” button, a color highlight will be added to the trash icon , to indicate to other patrollers that this page has been nominated for deletion. At the last design review, we discussed using a black background for this color highlight, for consistency with the black color used for deleted posts on the New Pages Feed.
Ahem. One more request, please. Could we add a add a blue chevron at the end of the section one-liners, linking to their relevant policy pages? • Speedy deletion: Mark this page for speedy deletion if it fits one of the criteria below. > Chevron link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criteria_for_Speedy_Deletion • Proposed deletion: Mark this page for proposed deletion if it clearly violates community standards. Chevron link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Proposed_deletion • Articles for Deletion: Mark this page to discuss its deletion with other editors. Chevron link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion for AfD (or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Miscellany_for_deletion for the userspace).
Choosing PROD (Proposed Deletion (Living People)) from the toolbar results in an error: "This template must be substituted. Replace {{Prod blp|reason}} with {{subst:Prod blp|reason}}."
PROD problem should be fixed. Mark for Deletion button message fixed. Items 1, 2, and 4 in the original bug post are fixed.
All remaining issues have been filed as separate bugs.
