We have a mediawiki 1.18 runing and using german mediawiki tags - for example we use Kategorie instead of Category for adding the categories to pages. Due to this is seems that the DynamicSidebar cannot respond with the CATEGORY-SIDEBAR or GROUP-SIDEBAR. The user:<name>/sidebar works.

You can choose to upgrade to: - 1.19, our LTS release, supported until November 2014 (LTS means long term support) - 1.20, our last release, supported until November 2013 - 1.21, the version currently in development and deployed on Wikimedia projects (continuous integration model). [ Extra information request ] Do you have any message in the debug log? If you switch your wiki from German to English ($wgLanguageCode = 'en'), does the category appears? To enable debug log: $wgDebugLogGroups["dynamic-sidebar"] = "/tmp/sidebar-debug.txt";
