Description Jasper Deng 2012-06-21 05:24:43 UTC
If an account is blocked on one wiki, especially a small one, there's little reason to allow what often amounts to cross-wiki abuse using automatic account creation. If a user needs to use the SUL system even when blocked on a wiki, there should be something like a "localaccountblocksulexempt" permission that can be given to whomever needs to use it.
Comment 1 Betacommand 2012-06-21 05:35:31 UTC
Really a bad idea, we have a global blocking policy for a reason. I have often seen smaller projects having some really stupid reasons for blocking. Or in cases of a global interwiki bot the few that dont accept them. I would suggest closing this as a Bad Idea™ and WONTFIX
Comment 2 Jasper Deng 2012-06-21 05:42:46 UTC
(Let me just clarify that Meta should have an exemption, and that this only applies to the automatic creation on view)
Comment 3 Alex Monk 2012-06-21 11:56:26 UTC
Agreed with Betacommand here. Local admins shouldn't be able to limit global accounts of other users.
Comment 4 matanya 2012-06-21 21:13:34 UTC
not a good idea imho. should be closed with won't fix.
