The box informing a user that his talk page has been edited does not display if the talk page was created by moving another page to it. Vandals and the like who are warned on their userpages (by mistake), with said pages then moved to their usertalkpages, will thus not see the warnings. (I've seen such warnings moved several times, myself.)
msh210, thanks for the heads-up. Is this problem still happening? Sorry for the delay in response.

If anyone on this recipient list is available right now -- as I'm sending this at 02:33 UTC -- to try to reproduce this bug with me, I'm on freenode IRC as 'msh210'.
Tested; yes, the bug is extant. (See log of freenode's #wikimedia-tech from today's date.) Thanks for your help, jdelanoy. (In summary: I deleted my usertalkpage, he moved my userpage there, I got no "you have new messages" note.)
Is this a duplicate of bug 4101 (which was marked as a dup of bug 12465)?
(In reply to Andre Klapper from comment #4) > Is this a duplicate of bug 4101 (which was marked as a dup of bug 12465)? That's about e-mail notification, so no. That said, perhaps whatever fixes the one bug will fix the other: I wouldn't know.
