For the new Sister Projects committee, we will need a mailing list. It has been discussed on #wikimedia-SPCom: [13:37] <Thehelpfulone> so do we want our own mailing list? [13:37] <Ebe123> Okay. [13:37] <Thehelpfulone> MF-Warburg and Pharos ^ too [13:37] <MF-Warburg> mailing list: not sure if it's not to early, but in general yes [13:38] <Thehelpfulone> hmm well it's clear that we will need one [13:38] <MF-Warburg> indeed [13:38] <Ebe123> Too early is better than too late [13:39] <Thehelpfulone> if we just start our discussions on our mailing list then we can keep them altogether [13:39] <Thehelpfulone> that's from my POV, sam believed it was best to start off in wikimedia-l first [13:40] <Pharos> i tend toward sam's idea, but either way is ok [13:44] <MF-Warburg> then let me say that I tend towards THO's idea :) [13:44] <Ebe123> Shall we make the mailing list? [13:46] <Thehelpfulone> whichever way, we need to come to an agreement ;) [13:46] <Thehelpfulone> name suggestions too then the 7 (or 9) members can !vote [13:47] <Thehelpfulone> back in a bit [14:01] <Thehelpfulone> ok so I'm thinking sister-projects@ or spcom@ [14:01] <Thehelpfulone> or some similar variation - thoughtS?
I will confirm that the naming conventions etc are okay with all the committee members first, initial list admin email address can be mine - thehelpfulonewiki@gmail.com.
spcom-l@wikimedia.org would be the current standard name.
However this seem premature, as the committee and its membership have not to my knowledge been endorsed/created by either the Board or the Wikimedia Community.
actually the new convention is to drop the -l as i was told by one of the people from opa.
Sorry, that comment was made from a mobile device. The new convention is to drop the -l so the mailing list address would be spcom@lists.wikimedia.org. Yes, this bug request is a bit premature but it doesn't harm to have it here.
