It should be possible to filter for posts that haven't been resolved yet, which would be especially useful for the watchlist filter to support an actual workflow of going through open comments and closing them.
I see that this is being discussed in bug 39587 as well. I think altering the scoring based on resolution status is good, but having the actual ability to only see posts that haven't been attended to would be a more natural fit against the desirable workflow.
Lowering priority on this, because we want to complete the sharding first, which will not be done until early November. At that point, we can implement this feature a lot easier than now, according to Matthias. The goal is to show all posts with comments which have not yet been marked as resolved, and which have not been hidden or oversighted. By default, we may want to sort them by date, with the oldest comment first, if that's easy to do. The drop-down menu label would be 'Unresolved' and it would be placed right below the 'Resolved' filter. This filter would only be available to auto-confirmed editors and up, just like the 'Resolved' filter.

Has been added to https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/24264/, but will still be quite a while before this is deployed.
Thanks, Matthias! Note that we would like to rename this filter 'Unreviewed' and making this one of the two main filters, replacing 'All comments', as proposed in this feature requirement page: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Article_feedback/Version_5/Feature_Requirements#Feedback_page_filters The basic functionality should be the same as what was requested above, but the display of this filter would be slightly changed in terms of naming and link placement. It would also be available to everyone, if this works for you.
