User report: <<[...] The new one (for me at least, perhaps it already existed): when I edit a page in Beta (my sandbox, or a main space page), I get next to the page title two pale blue links, "edit source / edit beta", which bring me to the section editing for the lead. I don't get these pale links for other sections, only next to the title. I can't remember these being there, and I can't see the use for them (and if they have a use, they would probably be wanted for other sections as well). <<Note that I only get this when the page has at least one section header. Pages without section headers don't have this behaviour. Fram (talk) 14:12, 4 October 2013 (UTC)>>
I can confirm that I see this in Firefox 24/Linux/Monobook. I don't see it when using Vector skin. I don't have access to other browsers/systems to test on. Test page: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Thryduulf/sandbox4&oldid=575760261
Fram, the original reporter, has confirmed that he uses Vector so it does seem to be skin-specific.
This is caused by the "Add an [edit] link for the lead section of a page" gadget on enwiki. As normal, because gadgets' bugs aren't tracked on Bugzilla, I'm marking this as INVALID, but please do contact the author of the gadget and ask them to fix it. :-(
I submitted a step towards potentially fixing this and other editsection and VE-related bugs at https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/87627/ (after recent discussion at WP:VPT).
