Go to https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/enter_bug.cgi and select MobileFrontend. The form that appears gives options for hardware ("smartphone") and OS, but mobile operating systems are not listed. Only after clicking on "Show Advanced Fields" will the previously hidden fields "Web Browser" and "Mobile Platform" appear. Both of these are crucial for mobile interface bug reports and should be shown by default.
The bug summary is incorrect/invalid. It says "Submitting a bug for MobileFrontend does not allow to specify mobile OS/browser" which is not true; you can specify mobile OS/browser after clicking "Show advanced fields". This is expected behavior and I don't see any convincing reasons to change it (plus not even sure how easy and feasible that would be - filtering on specific names of specific products and then based on that display certain fields? Sounds like a nightmare to maintain, but I'm happy to be proven wrong).
The behavior might be expected by the webadmin, but certainly not by the user. The convincing reasons to change are as follows: 1.) As mentioned, information about mobile OS/browser is crucial for these bug reports, but most bug submitters won't find the hidden options. 2.) The current default fields are highly unintuitive: under hardware it lists "smartphone" as an option, but then under OS it doesn't list iOS or Android. I would merge the OS and mobile platform fields and always display the browser field.

Numbers about usage of the "Mobile Platform" field in Bugzilla do not support that statement - https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41197#c5 > 2.) I agree with that and I personally don't consider separate fields for "Mobile Platform" and "OS" useful at all, but as far as I know the Mobile team wanted a separate field once upon a time (before I joined Wikimedia). The fields are going to die once we move from Bugzilla to Phabricator anyway.
