We have udp2log-mw service on deployment-bastion which write to log files under /data/project/logs/ For a few days now, I have noticed that the log files magically disappear. Turns out that logrotate move them to the 'archive' directory and udp2log keep writing to them. After the file have been moved, logrotate should restart or hup the logrotate daemon so it closes the files (in archive) and reopen them (in the usual log dir). Then they get compressed. Apparently occurs since Aug 20th 2014.
/var/log/udp2log/udp2log.log may have some clue. Not we had a huge number of requests send for the last few days, so that might have prevented logrotate / HUP from working properly.
